Emma must ride alone through a rainstorm to reach the MacClennan keep and fetch the mighty warrior, Rogan MacClennan, Heather’s intended. Nothing must delay her. Her sister’s life depends on it. She sneaks off to return to the injured Macinnes warriors and to search for Heather.

Rogan MacClennan cannot believe the audacity of the youngest Macinnes sister to call him a coward, and then sneak off in nothing more than her nightdress. When he gets his hands on her, he intends to see her sent home to her father. Then he will rescue his intended without any interference from Emma.

Thrown together, the unlikely pair must face more trials and tribulations than they ever imagined possible. They also must face something both are trying desperately to ignore and deny... that they are falling in love.

Emma cannot betray her sister and Rogan must do his duty to his clan. They have no future together... or do they?

"The Arrow" (Monica McCarty) Review

As King Robert the Bruce of Scotland plots to retake his English occupied castles, he needs the stealth and skill of his elite soldiers, the Highland Guard. Fearless and indomitable, no men are more loyal to their king, or cherished by the women they love.

The talents of legendary marksman Gregor “Arrow” MacGregor are crucial now, as Bruce moves to reclaim his Scottish holdings. Gregor is considered the most handsome man in Scotland, and his fame as an archer is rivaled only by his reputation with the lasses as a heartbreaker. But when his infamous face is exposed during a covert mission, Gregor is forced to lay low. He returns home only to find a new battle waiting: a daring game of seduction involving his now very grown up and very desirable ward, Cate of Lochmaben.

A born fighter, Cate was clinging to life when Gregor rescued her after a vicious English raid on her village left her mother dead. But five years later, the once scrappy orphan Gregor took under his protection has become a woman. Brave, strong, and skilled in warfare, Cate is determined to lay claim to the warrior who refuses to be trapped. The heat in his eyes tells her she has his attention . . . and his desire. But will Gregor allow his heart to surrender before danger finds them, and the truth of Cate’s identity is revealed?

"The Arrow" by Monica McCarty. Gregor and Cate - Wow! Loved this book! Gregor, a fierce Highland Warrior known as one of the infamous "Phantoms" is guardian to Cate - a sweet, caring, energetic and overall ball of fire. She is so full of life and not your typical damsel in distress. She fights and trains like a warrior. This does nothing to take away from her charms. I loved how Gregor fought his feelings and desires and how she pushed and pushed him to recognize what was between them. It's not a road without bumps though and there is heartbreak along the way. I have only read one other book in this series and wonder why I haven't read the others - something I look to change soon. This is a book I highly recommend and will, no doubt, read again! ✔✔✔✔✔

"Hot Shot" (Lynn Raye Harris) Blitz w/Giveaway!!

Book Information
Title: Hot Shot
Author: Lynn Raye Harris
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Cool under pressure... Until now.
Hostile Operations Team sniper Jack "Hawk" Hunter is cool, methodical, and utterly lethal. Nothing rattles Jack's calm. But that was before he learned he fathered a child three years ago--a child who has just been kidnapped.
Gina Domenico is a superstar, a pop sensation with a string of hit records. But deep inside, she's still the lonely girl she's always been. When Jack saved her from an arms dealer, they spent three unforgettable days together waiting for rescue--and Gina fell hard for the sexy soldier before he walked away forever.
But now she needs his help and she'll do anything to get it. Though Jack can never forgive Gina for keeping his child from him, he'll do everything in his power--and HOT's--to bring their son home safely.
Nothing is what it seems, however, and their fates hang in the balance as someone else pulls the strings...and brings them ever closer to an explosive confrontation that could either save their son--or cost them everything.

Wow! "Hot Shot" is non-stop action - packed with suspense and a bit of sexual tension too! Gina and Jack met three years prior when he, an Army sniper, rescued her. The three days they were stranded together created a child, but Gina kept that from him. Now she needs his help again - to save their son. I liked Jack, a lot! He was tough and in control, except when it came to her. However, he fought it tooth and nail. Watching him struggle with his feelings and fight it so hard was tough but understandable. I didn't like Gina at first - she is superstar personified - or so it seems. Once we see underneath the pop star, she's a frightened and vulnerable person that needs to be safe. By the end, I was cheering and rooting for her, and them, all the way. This is Book #5 of the series, but it can most certainly be read as a stand along. This is the first I've read and, now having met some of the other characters, look forward to reading their stories too. ✔✔✔✔

A few minutes later Jack came into the bedroom. She thought she should tell him to knock first or something, but she didn’t have the energy. The barriers that would normally be there between her and a man just weren’t there with Jack.
“You didn’t eat enough on the plane. I ordered room service.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Gina.” He walked into the room and stopped in front of her. His blue eyes roamed her face while her heart kicked up. When he met her eyes again, her breath hitched. “You have to rest and you have to eat. We don’t know what’s going to happen, and you need to be strong. That’s one of the rules on a mission. Take care of yourself or you’re no good to your team.”
“I’m not part of your team. I’m just me.”
“You aren’t alone on this. We’re here, and that makes you part of the team. I’m ordering you to eat, same as I’d order my spotter or anyone else under my authority, and then I’m ordering you to rest.”
“I’m not under your authority.” Maybe she should be angry at the way he was talking to her, but she was oddly touched. God, just blame it on stress and a situation outside her control. She needed to push this man away, but she couldn’t seem to do it.
“Think of this like the island. I’m the one with the experience. I know what I’m doing. I got you out of there, didn’t I?”
She nodded.
“Trust me to get you out of here too, okay?”
“All right.”
He lifted an eyebrow. “You gonna eat when the food gets here?”
“Depends on what you ordered. I hate squash, for instance.”
“Then I’ll call and cancel the squash sandwich.”
She couldn’t help but laugh even though it had an edge that could turn into panic at any moment. “You didn’t order anything of the sort.”
“No.” He backed away and reached for the door handle. “Put on your pajamas. Get comfortable.”
“I don’t wear pajamas. I don’t wear anything.”
He stopped in mid-swing and she wanted to laugh again. She did wear pajamas, but she’d wanted to rattle him. Just because.
“Well, honey, you can come out here in nothing if you want, but it’ll probably be embarrassing for you and the delivery person both. Still, you can tip him good and I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
He shot her a grin before shutting the door behind him. Gina stood there with her heart pounding and her pulse skipping and wondered just what it was about him that made her want to get beneath his skin.

Strong arms slowly embraced her from behind. She tried to pull away, but if she wanted to be honest with herself—it just felt right. This moment. This man. His light aftershave enveloped her like a balm to her wounds. She leaned back and let out a sigh. Just make the ache go away.
“Do you remember what I said to you the day we first met?” His words played in the hair against her neck while he settled his hand on her stomach. Chills tickled down the length of her spine in anticipation of the pleasure his tone promised.
She nodded. “That when you close your eyes at night all you’ll see are my emerald eyes looking at you.” Her voice cracked on the last note. He ran his fingers up and down her arms while the one on her stomach pulled her snug against him.
His touch was light, but the fire from the simple contact infused her skin and set her libido ablaze. Her heart softened a fraction more for the man and the power his touch held over her.
As she spoke, he gently turned her around to face him. “And I meant it, sweetheart. Doesn’t matter if you decide to walk out that door. I’ll never forget the way you look at me. The way you have touched my soul. We might come at this from different angles, but there’s no denying what we feel for each other. Not any longer.”
“Seems love should be easier than this, don’t you think?
“Nothing is ever easy, love. I let your brother down once. Before tonight, I saw the promise I made as my penance.” He pulled her closer. “All that changed today when I thought I’d lose you forever. This,” he squeezed her just a little harder, “is all about you and me now.”
She liked that.
She turned. A wicked grin tilted his lips. She loved to see him smile. Especially this night. It had been so long since even the faintest hint of a smile had lit his eyes as it did now. Which brought everything back to center stage. What now?
Her head screamed at her to step back across the threshold and run like hell. Her heart pushed her deeper into the warmth his words and arms offered.
“Bella, look at me.” The lazy heat in his voice called to her. She licked her parched lips that burned with questions, yet she was so desperate for his lips to caress hers instead.
Their gazes connected, and she had all the answers she needed. He lowered his head slowly, but she wanted more. Faster. Harder.
Isabella threw her arms around him and leaped into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist in one smooth motion. His hands landed firmly on her ass, pulling her closer. In a single stride he pinned her flush against the wall. Pictures clattered to the floor with only a small rug to break the fall.
She broke their kiss and received a deep growl and a nip to her lip. She slid her tongue along the tender flesh and watched in awe as his gaze followed her every move. Like he couldn’t get enough of her. Her heart beat against her ribcage, threatening to burst with the love that filled her.
“Take me, Blake. Not for just a night, but for now, and as long as you’ll love me. I’ll take it.” She felt vulnerable, unsure what to do now that she’d set it all out there. So she let her body react for her.
“Baby, this isn’t a one night kinda thing.” His hands worked around her waist as he lowered her feet to the floor. “I am still waiting on an answer.”
Solid muscle slid between her legs, opening her up to his touch. Electricity shot through her on contact. Her clit responded first with a pulse of heat that stole her breath away then gave way to delicious shocks that rocked her from head to toe.
“Do you want to come for me, Isabella?”

Ema eased out of Gabriel’s arms to face him. That same seductive tone she was powerless to resist washed over her like rich, dark chocolate, leaving her heart thundering. Hot liquid pooled in the crotch of her panties. “Like this?” She slid the buttons of her top out of their hold again and slipped the material first off one shoulder then the next before losing the material altogether.
She cupped her breasts, letting her nipples slip between her fingers. A groan rattled deep within Gabe’s throat, giving her the courage to continue.
“Let me see them.” He moved into her space to peel her hands away. If he kept looking at her with such fervor, she’d be lost.
“God, I’ve missed you. I’ve dreamed about having you again. Just like this.”
“You’ve dreamed of me, Gabriel?” His gaze simmered with a deeper passion than she’d seen before. From his kneeling position looking up at her, Ema saw the full force of the fire set deep in his eyes. The blaze burned hotter with each encounter, pulling her closer to the warmth he offered.
“You know I have, precious. The proof is right here.” He guided her hand to stroke the ridge of his cock through his pants. Impressive in every way.
With his forefingers and thumb, Gabe pinched both her nipples, forcing a moan from her. “I’m going to suck those delicate berries into my mouth and make you come for me. First, I want to see the rest of you.”
He skimmed his fingers along her sensitive sides then worked his way toward the front clasp of her skirt. Shudders of anticipation raked through her. With the slightest touch, he had her wanting more than she could ever have. A family. A man to love her body and soul. She had to stop, pull back on her runaway emotions constantly edging her closer to him.
In a flick, he released the final barrier. “Baby, I need you. We’re both in danger of me combusting right now if I don’t get you wrapped around my length soon.”
Dios, he was going to be the death of her. She shouldn’t be here, but he looked at her with such intensity, as if she was his soul reason for breathing, and there was no way she could resist his allure much longer.
What they had went much deeper than just lust and want. For both of them. And it scared her to the core.

The story of Blake and Isabella - he was her brother's best friend and she the "forbidden" sister.  When he realizes she was leaving and she'd be gone from his life, he panicked but came up with a plan to make her "His by Sunrise!".  I loved Blake - big, tough Marine but really just a teddy bear needing some serious snuggling!  Isabella was hot and cold for me - she loved him but felt the need to be in control which I thought took away from her sweetness a bit.  I did like that they knew each other for some time, not just a one day, instantly in love type of romance.  This was a short story so it's a super quick read.  I would have liked it a bit longer to get to know the characters more and learn more about their bond instead of just reading about their lovemaking.  Overall is was a quick and easy read - great for sitting on the beach enjoying the sunrise!  ✔✔✔.5

This is the story of Gabriel and Esmeralda (Ema).  They are a "Friends with Benefits" type of couple but Gabe wants more.  Ema's afraid to give her heart away.  Gabe is terrific - he's sweet but determined to get his way.  I enjoyed this story quite a bit.  It was more about the development of their relationship as it moved to the next level then it was about sex (not that there wasn't some steamy scenes in this one).  I really enjoy when the Hero used terms of endearments like "Baby" and "Sweetheart" and "Precious" and this (and His By Sunrise) are filled with them.  The element of suspense and danger helped make this story even greater - nothing like the Hero fearing for the love of his life.   I hope Ms. Perkins is planning on a third story of the series - they are quick, light and fun reads.   ✔✔✔✔
